In January Dawn Ferguson emailed the committee announcing her resignation, with immediate effect, from her
chairmanship and her role as Group Leaders’ Coordinator.
We would like to thank Dawn for her enthusiasm over the last two years and her commitment to Bridgwater U3A.
Dawn has agreed to continue running some of her groups for the time being however she had already disbanded
Contact and Craft and the Quiz groups.
With this in mind we are looking for members to come forward and carry on her good work by joining the committee in
May at the AGM.
We are looking for a Secretary (not minutes) and Chairperson, but all volunteers are welcome and nomination forms
will be available from your Group Leaders and at the March and April coffee mornings.
An opportunity to play in an “International Boules Competition”Bridgwater Town Twinning Forum has received an invitation from our French twin, La Ciotat, to take part in a petanque competition. They have also invited their other twin towns; Krannj (Slovenia), Singen (Germany) and Torre-Annunziata (Italy). The competition will be held from the 19th to 21st June. Accommodation for the duration of the event will be provided by La Ciotat. The team will comprise of ten players. If you are interested in taking part in this event please get in touch as soon as possible. My email address is firstname.lastname@example.org. Phone: (01278) 429388.Things you need to know:• Although accommodation is provided for the event we may need to stay a day extra and this will be at our own expense. • We will probably fly from Bristol to Marseilles with Easyjet at our own expense.• Travel insurance will be required. • No prior experience of playing petanque is required as there will be training sessions before we go so you will need to be free to attend these. • The competition will be over three days and the weather is likely to be warm. Exact details of how the event will be run are to follow. • Hopefully at the end of the competition there will be some free time to enjoy the delights of La Ciotat. • Team members should be residents of Bridgwater.
