BRIDGWATER and District U3A
Industrial Archaeology Meetings: 1st Thursday of each month at 2:00 pm. Group Leader: Noel Telephone: 671408
The group, which started in the autumn of 2008, is interested in the study of the history and development of industry and commerce both local and national. Subjects are researched by group members who then present their findings to the group followed by questions and lively discussion. So far we have looked at Mendip lead mining; oil extraction at Kilve; the Pawlett balloon hanger; glass making; the Bridgwater brick and tile industry; cotton manufacture; Somerset railways and Fussell’s iron works. We aim to go out on visits during the summer before returning to presentations in the autumn. We meet on the first Thursday of the month at 2pm. If you are interested please phone me. Noel
Note: In all cases before joining a group for the first time please telephone the group leader.
